Finding Your New Normal – 4 Tips, Simple but Serious

All these NEW NORMAL posts can be seen at “Finding Your New Normal.”

TIP #1

… the work God loves that YOU do!
In this pandemic huge numbers of people are doing something God absolutely LOVES. They’re taking care of humans – of people, the dwelling places of God, “the image of God.”
When someone cares for WHAT GOD LOVES, then they are doing the work of God. I hope you are doing so, where you live, the ways you can. What an excellent thing to be doing in a very hard time.

TIP #2

Prayer is, you see, a very private matter – mostly it’s you BEING HONEST with yourself – but also opening that up to – or doing it in the presence of – God, the Universe, or whoever-if-anyone is “out there.”
Truly. I invite you to try it. You’ll survive.
Sometimes prayer seems pretentious or self-serving. Maybe we feel unworthy, certain we don’t know how. But you CAN pray. Even when depressed, or angry. Even in a pandemic!

TIP #3

          1) “NORMAL” IS GONE. We’re stressed by big changes in lifestyle, by financial and health threats, by political implications, uncertainty all around.
2) Not only right now. There will be new normals coming FOR A WHILE, some expected, some not, some good, some bad – sorry to say.
3) So why guy-on-trail-with-cute-dog-in-backpack? Because a) we are HEADING INTO THINGS we don’t really know; but b) we can seriously try to PAY ATTENTION and do our best to CARE FOR what really matters to us.

TIP #4

“If we open a quarrel between the past and the present, we shall find that we have lost the future.”
MAYBE FIXING BLAME on someone, or fixed on avoiding blame ourselves. Or obsessed with seeing “them” get what they deserve, or with getting the credit we deserve. Or just plain furious! Are you stuck there?
We can instead ATTEND (with LOVE!) TO THE PRESENT – and thereby the future. That, I think, is how to find a good “new normal”. (quote from Churchill)
