Spiritual Core of Activism

An Objective of Prayer

I Timothy 2:

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Pretty important “that.” And loving our neighbors as ourselves will make us think of “we” in quite broad terms.

God grant that those in positions of authority in our nation and world will behave in such ways that “we” all might live in peace and quiet, peace and prosperity. It would be so wonderful to see all the violence and rabble-rousing subside so those who care to can focus more on “godliness and holiness” – which includes a whole lot of love of neighbors AND enemies, and concern for the whole planet on which we live.
