Violence and Chaos, New Orleans after Katrina – Gee, I’m Shocked

The Washington Post tells me this morning, “Armored military vehicles and national guard troops started moving into New Orleans Thursday morning amid continuing reports of violence and chaos in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.”

Of COURSE there’s violence and chaos. These people were left to die, and now are even more clearly being left to die. They don’t need armored vehicles bringing bullets to shoot at them. They need trucks, boats and planes bringing water, food, and rescue.

And they know very well that this government – their government – will spend BILLIONS and will mobilize with extreme rapidity on behalf of whatever it really wants to do. It just doesn’t look like dying poor people in America’s cities happen to be on their government’s list of things to care about. We know the money is there. We know the busses, planes, trucks and personnel are there. But they are not available when it’s a matter of life and death. They are not being moved until it is way too late, and way too little. Where are the morals? Where are the values?

God may move slowly, but God is nobody’s fool. Be careful, America. Speak up, America.

  • do don’t know what to say, but if ANY politican is speaking, you can be sure it is most likel half-truths, either side.
    Same for Oil companies.

  • To relate a conversation among hunters and a veteran of Viet Nam, we all heard that the helicopter supposedly shot at over New Orleans was NOT hit. Did anyone hear differently?

Now, there are two ways to know if you’re being shot at for sure:

One, if you’re hit. Which reports indicate the helicopter was not, right? Correct me, anybody, if they heard differently than we did.

Two, if you’re in the woods or wherever, if it’s quiet enough, you can hear bullets whizzing by. They move too quickly to see. Now, how the Sam Hill is anyone going to HEAR BULLETS INSIDE A HELICOPTER?

Think of all the gunfire on the streets below the helicopter. The pilot would see gunfire flaring, but: how did the pilot know for certain that his helicopter was the target? With all the looting and confrontation, it might have been difficult for anyone flying over New Orleans to NOT see gunfire somewhere every fifteen minutes, while the drug addicts were going crazy without their fixes. Those drug addicts do NOT represent the majority of the people of New Orleans.

This, I am afraid, is a twisted story. Does anyone have the testimony of the helicopter pilot who was supposedly in the line of fire? How can he claim to know that?

This leads us to frightening questions, like: why was the government serving up this story, drumming on it as they did, while giving orders to stop all assistance for four days? Was this not an attempt to obfuscate the truth? The story, we’re afraid, was a government-issue case of red herring, to provoke the public to curse the poor. Nothing else.

  • Wow. This administration can sure move fast when it’s a Supreme Court position on the line. But then, that’s more pavement on their road to absolute and unquestioned power – much more important, obviously, than a few thousand poor people dying in New Orleans.

  • Habakkuk 3:13:
Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, for the salvation of thy anointed. Thou didst crush the head of the wicked, laying him bare from thigh to neck. Selah 14 Thou didst pierce with thy shafts the head of his warriors, who came like a whirlwind to scatter me, rejoicing as if to devour the poor in secret.

Tonight I was awakened with an envisioned scene of terror in New Orleans, of people hiding on rooftops and in the dark, weeping as gunfire rang through the streets – some kind of help to receive when your soul wants water, food, warmth, and relief from the stench… this is hard to imagine, but these people include our brothers and sisters

    Ezekiel 3:14
The LORD enters into judgment with the elders and princes of His people, “It is you who have devoured the vineyard; The plunder of the poor is in your houses. 15 “What do you mean by crushing My people And grinding the face of the poor?” Declares the Lord GOD of hosts.

This is another lament for the US church, for some are disconnected enough to be satisfied with the so-called justice of a leader who kills the poor. For some, these days, that will be enough, that “looters are shot dead. Never mind the hearts around them being terrorized, broken. People will die from just hearing the terror.

Does anyone think those who follow the antiChrist are not going to be self-deceived about whom they follow? That they might follow this kind of spirit and think they are serving the Lord?

Does this kind of leadership sound familiar yet:

    Zechariah 11:15:
The LORD said to me, “Take again for yourself the equipment of a foolish shepherd.

    11:16
“For behold, I am going to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for the perishing, seek the scattered, heal the broken, or sustain the one standing, but will devour the flesh of the fat {sheep} and tear off their hoofs.

    11:17
” Woe to the worthless shepherd Who leaves the flock! A sword will be on his arm And on his right eye! His arm will be totally withered And his right eye will be blind.”

This scripture follows the spirit of betrayal of the Lord. These words follow the infamous mention of Judas, who started out as a “friend and disciple of the Lord. In context:

    Zechariah 11:13:

Then the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter, {that} magnificent price at which I was valued by them.” So I took the thirty {shekels} of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD.
    11:14
Then I cut in pieces my second staff Union, to break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
    11:15
The LORD said to me, “Take again for yourself the equipment of a foolish shepherd.
    11:16
“For behold, I am going to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for the perishing, seek the scattered, heal the broken, or sustain the one standing, but will devour the flesh of the fat {sheep} and tear off their hoofs.
    11:17
” Woe to the worthless shepherd Who leaves the flock! A sword will be on his arm And on his right eye! His arm will be totally withered And his right eye will be blind.”
