Fraud (Lies, Fear)

“A Leader First Makes Himself Believe The Lie”

Here’s some of the dialog from Dilbert, from Sunday’s Omaha World Herald. Dilbert is questioning his boss about a project budget forecast:

– Do leaders make deceptive forecasts and later act shocked when things don’t work out?

– No. A leader first makes himself believe the lie, thus turning deception into an inspiring form of optimism. Observe.
[He then squeezes his head with both hands while shouting “GAAA!!! BELIEVE! BELIEVE!” His head swells to twice its normal size.] The swelling will go down in a few hours. Then we’ll have a perfect budget.

Of course that occurs in even the most mundane circumstances, but these days the parallels to real life on the national and international levels seem too obvious to bother commenting on. Unfortunately the leaders I’m thinking of seem impervious to the budget (or whatever) “not working out.”

  • Hey,HBK, and Connie: maybe in another 2.5 years, people will wake up,a nd hopefully, we will have a less dishonest group leading our country?( I think 99% of politicians are somewhat crooked, sorry).
Have a good weekend you 2.

  • Wow HBK, those verses are strong! But sadly true… This last Sunday, Larry preached at our church, gently yet strongly he taught from Isaiah 30:15-18 and Psalm 37:1-9 about mounting up with fast horses against the enemy instead of waiting for God. The scary part was that God said in essence: Go ahead, if you insist, but I can’t protect you this way. He also talked about repentance and rest being our strength… the opposite of what we think.

  • Hosea 10:13 (King James Version)
Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

Here’s another good verse pertaining to the topic. It saddens me to see so many of my fellow christians (including my own family and friends) eating the fruit of Bush’s lies because they put their trust in a political leader (mighty men). Please pray that God will open their eyes so they can see the truth about the emperor.

  • Isaiah 59:3 (King James Version)
For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

This passage of scripture seems to speak directly to the current administration don’t you think?
